West Midlands
The West Midlands is a metropolitan city in western central England. The town has a population of 2,808,356 in 2014 census. In I974, it came into existence as a metropolitan county after the passage of the Local Government Act 1972, formed from parts of Worcestershire, Staffordshire, and Warwickshire. Numerous rivers pass through the county, including the River Tame. The West Midlands is divided into regions called metropolitan boroughs like other metropolitan counties.
